We Need Your Help!
Save the Electric Cinema and Station Street.
The Electric Cinema (the UK’s oldest working cinema), closed on 29th February 2024 due to development proposals intended to destroy a significant section of Birmingham’s Station Street and replace it with a 50-floor tower.
We are calling on the City’s leaders to protect our historically significant buildings and cultural heritage. So far, The Old Repertory Theatre and the Crown have secured Listed status. We need the good people of Birmingham to stand with us in our fight to Save the Electric Cinema before it is too late!
The Goals:
- To achieve listed/protected status for the Electric Cinema.
- To get Station Street designated as a site of Civic Pride, Cultural Value and Historic Asset.
Station Street must be turned into Birmingham’s small venues and cultural offer.
